Thank you Aki for a great time sampling and appreciating the gift of sake that Japan has given to the world. I expected that sakes would vary but not as much as Aki showed. Like all good things, the differences can be very nuanced or very stark. If you want to know more about Japanese culture in general or just have fun tasting different sake and listening to the very knowledgeable Aki, then do not wait to book!! You will have a great time!!!
We had a wonderful time with Akira! He took us to 4 local spots in Tokyo and introduced to many Japanese drinks and food that we likely would have not tried without him. We also made many friends that night thanks to akira! It was one of our top favorite things we did & will surely book again to explore new areas with him next time we’re in Tokyo. 🙂
Thank you Aki for an amazing introduction to Sake and the different styles and production techniques- I had a great time sampling the different styles from spur to sweet and everything in between. The tour was so much fun and Aki is an amazing host! We went to multiple places where I wouldn’t be able to go without knowing Japanese and tried all kinds of unique Japanese drinks/dishes. Aki is very knowledgeable about the food and drinking culture, and most importantly he is fun to hangout with. Highly recommended!
This has been an amazing evening. Aki took us through some local bars, where we could enjoy a wide variety of foods and drinks while listening on to his very interesting stories. This is a great option for anyone who’d like to try some less usual foods/drinks in more local places. The tour is also incredibly reasonably priced for what you get to enjoy. Personally I recommend joining random guests on their booking, as the whole thing is a great opportunity to meet other fellow travellers.
Had a fantastic time at our tour with Aki. He’s such a fun guide and really knowledgeable. It was as if we were spending an evening with a local friend. We had a few stops at bars , restaurants and izakayas and tasted various foods that are part of a wonderful culinary journey. I had so much fun on this tour and definitely call Aki again for another tour on my next visit.
Aki was the best! We had such a great time and the restaurants and the food were amazing. I would strongly recommend this. Just a fun way to see a different side of Tokyo that’s outside the big buildings etc. Much more of a local area. Really enjoyed it.
Aki was fantastic! We had a small group on the tour but it made it more personable, he was a great tour guide and pushed our limits on local food and taught us the ins-and-outs of Japanese culture as we toured. I would highly recommend his tour for anyone visiting Tokyo and wants to learn more about the culture and food and drinks! 10/10 he was a fantastic guide and a great person to spend the evening with!
In addition to the host, two people who helped me participated and took care of a lot of people. I think this is the first tour where you can experience various meals in such a short time. In general, I was so happy to know a good restaurant that I didn’t know unless I lived in this neighborhood. Also, it was a course where you can taste various drinks and foods at once, so it was not a waste of time. It was very good. I want to come back to the food route with my family or friends next time. At first, I hesitated because of the cost of the package, but it was a good experience to eat various foods at once.
Aki is passionate about his work. He loves what he does. Has a lot of experience about drinks. Basically I had gone to taste ramen and maybe a few drinks but it turned out much better than expected.

Akira really goes the extra mile, as far as ensuring all the buzzed tour goers get home safely. For me, he even helped me adjust my Shinkansen ticket for the next day at the station and we swapped stories on the way back. Food was delicious, each establishment was full of friendly people and good vibes. Aki really puts in effort to make sure everyone is having a good time both with the tour and connecting others!”
Aki is awesome! We had so much fun trying out all the different liquors and food in Ueno. It’s really unique since Ueno isn’t a place that has a lot of tourists but that makes it even better IMO! Other plus side was meeting a lot of cool people, so if you’re looking for a great night to eat and get drunk, this is for you!
It is a great experience learning local culture and trying out the local food. Mr Aki is humorous and kind and took us to places that we would never have been able to find on our own. The food is great – one of the best meal we had during our stay in Tokyo. We made new friends from different countries as well. Glad that we chose to attend this experience at the beginning of our Japan trip.! 🙂
We are amateurs at sake, but we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of sakes that Aki showed us. We learned a lot by tasting various types of sake, from warm to cold ones, pasturised and unpasturised ones, etc. Super educational, would highly recommend!
We had the best experience with Aki-san! He was very knowledgeable about sake, and walked us through the different production methods of sake. We tried 7 different types of sake and they all tasted great!
Akira was super cool and helped me join the tour last minute. We shared some sake, beagn with some delicious sashimi and made our way around Ueno. I enjoyed his energy and the knowledge he shared. Definitely recommend it for solo travelers or friends.

Aki and his tour were among the highlights of our time in Tokyo. Aki is very knowledgeable and was our gateway to Japanese culture. In addition to showing us around in Ueno, he gave us great recommendations on whisky and Sake (he is a sake somm). Wish we had more time in Tokyo to join his sake or whisky tour. Highly recommended.

I had the chance to do a whisky tasting and it was perfect. Akira is a nice person, very passionate about whisky. I drank different whisky meanwhile he explained the history of the whisky in Japan.

This was such a fun, value-added, unique airbnb experience. Meeting point was easy to find. Aki was super personable and made everyone feel included. We were a group of 8 but everyone in the group was friendly and got along with drinks & food. My favourite was the standing bar. Aki stayed on AFTER the tour to hang out. This was not a neighborhood that I would typically go to as a tourist but I’m so glad to have explored a new area! So much fun, we were positively drunk and full after! Definitely one of our highlights in tokyo!
Absolutely amazing food and sake tour with Akira San and Yumi San. I would say I am not the biggest seafood person but even all of the seafood was amazing(they have beef, pork and chicken as well) . The enthusiast and cheerful personalities of Akira and Yumi made this an experience I’ll always remember. I also loved going outside of the touristy bubble and going to shops that only the locals visit. If you are hesitating to book this experience please don’t hesitate any longer. You won’t regret it!
This is not only an education excursion about Japanese food and drink but Aki is also such an entertaining host full of humour and always cracking jokes!! Aki took us to some local food / drinking places where we as tourists with little to no Japanese would have probably never gone on our own.

The host Akira did a great job at explaining a lot of Japanese culture while making it entertaining and fun. We got to try a lot of traditional and delicious food including some of the best ramen that I’ve had with no pork in it. This is a great experience for those looking to experience Japan and is also a great way to start your Japan trip.

He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Terrific group dynamic, especially for solo travelers. Our group had folks from 5 countries! Ueno is much more local and dynamic than the more touristy areas. After having been to Tokyo a handful of times, Aki’s tour in Ueno was a pleasant change of pace. He’s a wonderful host and provided us with such a great experience. Our favorite was the all you can drink! Will definitely look to book his other tours soon.

Akira was an incredible host. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the food, restaurants and alcohol plus the broader history of Japan. He was able to answer any question we threw his way and made it incredibly entertaining with drinks, personal stories and fun stops along the way. This was a great experience and anyone who is visiting Tokyo that likes to eat and drink should do this tour!
Aki San was a great host. He was very funny, open and gave us wonderful recommendations on other bars and restaurants! He gave us some insight into what was happening during our tour and we had a great time!

Fantastic experience. I am a seasoned world traveler and usually do not engage in tour group type experiences (this is my first Airbnb experience), but I unexpectedly had a free evening and was short on time to plan something, so gave this a go. The experience exceeded my expectations. Akira is an engaging host, was extremely attentive, entertaining and gracious, and took us to some interesting, out of the way places. The experience did not feel like a tour group activity, and rather more like a bunch of friends going out. I made some good connections with the other guests, and overall had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

10/10 This was SO fun. We flew into Tokyo and went straight to this tour same night due to our tight schedule. But I’m SO glad we did because it was the best welcome experience ever. The food was delicious and very adventure spirited. Akira is a natural entertainer and guide, he made us laugh and feel comfortable all while educating us about the culture. Book. This. Tour. We were so full by the end with food and memories, VERY WORTH IT.
This was such an awesome tour! The hosts were so engaging and really made it fun. We were in a large group (12-15 people) but the tavern hopping made it easy to chat and meet everyone. It was awesome to see the local spots and be guided like a local. Akira threw in anecdotes along the way about Japanese life that I won’t soon forget. This was a pretty cool experience, and Aki is not lying when he says: “Come hungry.” Aki and his assistant, Yumi, are very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and want you to have lots of fun! There’s so much food to try in Tokyo so it’s nice to have someone take you to places you’re probably not gonna go to on your own to eat and drink new things and meet new people. I really enjoyed how casual and funny Aki is, and he has so much knowledge about food and drinks in Japan; he even gave me recommendations for other towns. This was a very worthwhile experience – go hungry, thirsty, and ready to try new things!

That was an amazing tour! Aki was very friendly, knowledgeable and hilarious. His assistant Take was equally great as well! Both men spoke English fluently, and made sure that we knew key Japanese phrases before the evening was over. The other group members made it extra fun as well! Aki-san was incredibly friendly and helpful to any questions we had. The tour was filled with many interesting facts and trivia about the local architecture and food scene. Of course, the food itself was absolutely delicious and the tour was very well planned. Just remember to have an empty stomach going into this tour, as there was way more yummy dishes presented than I originally expected. The last ramen was to die for as well. At the end of the tour Aki-san also helped me get a cab as I was getting a little too drunk for my own good haha. Thank you again Aki-san! Best tour I’ve ever been on. He showed around a lot of very good delicious and unique dishes in Japan and talked about the history and why it was a certain way but also how the locals do it! I wish I could say the amazing dishes he showed but that will ruin the surprise!

This has been an amazing evening. Aki took us through some local bars, where we could enjoy a wide variety of foods and drinks while listening on to his very interesting stories. This is a great option for anyone who’d like to try some less usual foods/drinks in more local places. The tour is also incredibly reasonably priced for what you get to enjoy. Personally I recommend joining random guests on their booking, as the whole thing is a great opportunity to meet other fellow travellers.
Had a fantastic time at our tour with Aki. He’s such a fun guide and really knowledgeable. It was as if we were spending an evening with a local friend. We had a few stops at bars , restaurants and izakayas and tasted various foods that are part of a wonderful culinary journey. In addition to the host, two people who helped me participated and took care of a lot of people. I think this is the first tour where you can experience various meals in such a short time. In general, I was so happy to know a good restaurant that I didn’t know unless I lived in this neighborhood. Also, it was a course where you can taste various drinks and foods at once, so it was not a waste of time. It was very good. I want to come back to the food route with my family or friends next time. At first, I hesitated because of the cost of the package, but it was a good experience to eat various foods at once.

Aki is awesome! We had so much fun trying out all the different liquors and food in Ueno. It’s really unique since Ueno isn’t a place that has a lot of tourists but that makes it even better IMO! Other plus side was meeting a lot of cool people, so if you’re looking for a great night to eat and get drunk, this is for you!
It is a great experience learning local culture and trying out the local food. Mr Aki is humorous and kind and took us to places that we would never have been able to find on our own. The food is great – one of the best meal we had during our stay in Tokyo. We made new friends from different countries as well. Glad that we chose to attend this experience at the beginning of our Japan trip.! 🙂
We are amateurs at sake, but we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of sakes that Aki showed us. We learned a lot by tasting various types of sake, from warm to cold ones, pasturised and unpasturised ones, etc. Super educational, would highly recommend!
We had the best experience with Aki-san! He was very knowledgeable about sake, and walked us through the different production methods of sake. We tried 7 different types of sake and they all tasted great!

This was such a fun, value-added, unique airbnb experience. Meeting point was easy to find. Aki was super personable and made everyone feel included. We were a group of 8 but everyone in the group was friendly and got along with drinks & food. My favourite was the standing bar. Aki stayed on AFTER the tour to hang out. This was not a neighborhood that I would typically go to as a tourist but I’m so glad to have explored a new area! So much fun, we were positively drunk and full after! Absolutely amazing food and sake tour with Akira San and Yumi San. I would say I am not the biggest seafood person but even all of the seafood was amazing(they have beef, pork and chicken as well) . The enthusiast and cheerful personalities of Akira and Yumi made this an experience I’ll always remember. I also loved going outside of the touristy bubble and going to shops that only the locals visit. If you are hesitating to book this experience please don’t hesitate any longer. You won’t regret it!

The host Akira did a great job at explaining a lot of Japanese culture while making it entertaining and fun. We got to try a lot of traditional and delicious food including some of the best ramen that I’ve had with no pork in it. This is a great experience for those looking to experience Japan and is also a great way to start your Japan trip.

Fantastic experience. I am a seasoned world traveler and usually do not engage in tour group type experiences (this is my first Airbnb experience), but I unexpectedly had a free evening and was short on time to plan something, so gave this a go. 10/10 This was SO fun. We flew into Tokyo and went straight to this tour same night due to our tight schedule. But I’m SO glad we did because it was the best welcome experience ever. This was a pretty cool experience, and Aki is not lying when he says: “Come hungry.” Aki and his assistant, Yumi, are very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and want you to have lots of fun! There’s so much food to try in Tokyo so it’s nice to have someone take you to places you’re probably not gonna go to on your own to eat and drink new things and meet new people. I really enjoyed how casual and funny Aki is, and he has so much knowledge about food and drinks in Japan; he even gave me recommendations for other towns.
